Mersea Island is famous for its oysters. This is a drawing of a pair of Mersea Natives and an oyster smack. These were the traditional boats used for dredging the shallow estuaries and tidal creeks under sail. This one in particular is CK21 Maria, one of the oldest smacks on the island.
